NTC names Cherokee Nation Metalworks a Partner for Progress

“The Partners for Progress Award allows us to nominate local businesses who contribute to the development of the CareerTech system,” said NTC Superintendent Fred Probis. “Cherokee Nation Metalworks plays an important role in the local economy by hiring our graduates and plays an active role in shaping the type of training we offer in our programs.” 

Cherokee Nation Metalworks, LLC, a Cherokee Nation Industries LLC managed company, is located in a 137,000 sq. ft. plant in the MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor. They are an integrated business unit with core capabilities in precision CNC machining, metal forming and manufacturing. The machined and fabricated details are utilized on commercial and military aircraft, various missile and UAV programs. Their facility in Pryor is AS9100 certified and uses state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software and equipment.  

Aside from their impact on the local economy, Cherokee Nation Metalworkds staff also serve on the advisory board for NTC Claremore’s Computer Aided Manufacturing Program which trains students to be machinists. Numerous NTC graduates have been hired to turn their training into a career with Cherokee Nation Metalworks.

“The involvement of our industry partners is what makes CareerTech training so valuable,” said NTC Claremore Instructor Shawn Christian. “The employers tell us the skills they need employees to have, we structure training to meet those requirements and they hire our graduates. It’s a win for everyone.”

Cherokee Nation Industries is a recipient of multiple performance awards from organizations such as Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky, and they can now add the Partners In Progress award to their list of accomplishments.
