What's Happening

Bryce Goetz was one of 11 students in Northeast Tech’s Pre-Engineering Program who presented their capstone projects to the community on Thursday evening. He and his teammate, Tyler Boyer, designed a specialized utensil for distributing delicate finger foods at social gatherings.
Aspiring engineers present projects to the community
More than 50 friends, family members and citizens gathered in the auditorium at Northeast Tech’s Claremore Campus to hear the capstone presentations from students in Northeast Tech’s Pre-Engineering Program. The presentations are the final project assigned to students in the Engineering, Design and Development course, and Hammock is a fan the assignment, even though many of them dread the public presentation.

Working in conjunction with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and the Northeast Tech Foundation, students and staff at Northeast Tech’s Afton campus have established a food pantry to benefit their peers. Student Advisor Tobie Gatewood first brought this idea to the campus after participating in a CareerTech leadership program.

Superintendent's Message

Our Nov. 13, 2017, board meeting resulted in two personnel changes. Janet Trimble, our district's Practical Nursing Coordinator, has completed her master’s degree. This accomplishment means that she was moved to the master’s degree column on the salary schedule. David Carnahan, who has been performing three part-time assignments, has been hired as a full-time employee. He will continue with his current duties plus help with bus routes. Please, congratulate Janet and David when you have the opportunity.

Our Pryor campus hosted the November board meeting, and the campus showcase was kicked off with a fantastic meal prepared by Chef Daniel Morrison and members of his Culinary Arts class. After the business portion of the meeting, George Wyckoff, from Alex Schmidt’s Auto Service program disassembled an engine…explaining what each component was and its function. River Rose and Cody Self from Rodney Darnell’s Electrical trades program demonstrated the difference between 24 volt and 120 volt power and how electrical circuits work. They also demonstrated a state-of-the-art hydraulic conduit bender.

It is always great to share with visitors all of the incredible things that happen at Northeast Tech!

Keep up the good work!
