It’s not every day that teenagers have the chance to learn cooking skills alongside a professional chef – that is unless they happen to be a student in Northeast Tech’s Culinary Arts program. Chef Danny Morrison is one of the newest instructors to be hired at Northeast Tech’s Pryor Campus, and after a successful career on the high-end restaurant circuit, he’s thrilled to be coming home.

Eight seconds doesn’t seem like a long time, but when you’re sitting atop a 1,500 pound steer, it can be an eternity. That is unless your name is Matthew Palmer. Palmer hails from Chelsea, attends the welding program at Northeast Tech’s Pryor Campus, and was recently crowned the 2017 Bordertown Casino & Arena Bull Riding Champion.

Superintendent's Message

Greetings All,

Our last instructional position was filled at our September board meeting. Riley Reed is the new welding technology instructor at our Pryor campus. Riley is a product of our Pryor campus welding program. He has spent the past several years in industry and is ready to share his knowledge and skill with students. During my interview with Riley he stated that he has “wanted to teach a program like this since he was Jeff Smith’s student” in this program. Give him a friendly welcome when you have the opportunity.

After twelve years of dedicated service, Joe Hutchison has retired from Northeast Tech’s board of education. Joe was an exemplary board member that will be greatly missed. All of us wish Joe happiness and health.

On September 21st our Kansas Campus held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 15,000 square foot building that will house a multipurpose meeting room and a cosmetology program. In my remarks that day I was glad to share that “all of the money for this project is in the bank”. We save our building fund dollars until we can pay as we go…not one red cent of interest will be paid for this project. We are anxious to see the completed building.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ~Nelson Mandela

Keep up the good work!
